99.85% Acetic Acid (CH3COOHCH sub 3 COOHCH3COOH) is a clear, colorless organic liquid with a strong, pungent vinegar odor. It is primarily used in food as vinegar (4–20% concentration), as a preservative, a chemical leavening agent, and in industry for producing plastics and chemicals. Highly concentrated (glacial) acetic acid causes severe burns and damage to skin and eyes, while inhalation may cause breathing difficulties.
